Shay Morrison

Shay was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in February 2026. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Southern Queensland.

Shay’s academia includes Comparative, European and International Legal Studies with Università di Trento, Italy. Her international legal training also included studies at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, focused heavily on cross-border legal frameworks, supranational jurisdiction, and international law. She attended short European Law Students’ Association programs in Austria, on AI emerging technology, demonstrating her commitment to continuous learning and keeping abreast of the changing needs of the industry and her clients.

Shay has a genuine passion for the ocean and the unique commercial, physical, and jurisdictional complexities that define maritime law.

Prior to joining Pacific Maritime Lawyers, she honed her commercial acumen as a Subcontract Specialist with a multinational defence Prime, managing high-value procurement portfolios, complex contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance within heavily regulated environments. Additionally, Shay gained valuable legal practice experience assisting senior solicitors at specialist community legal service. There she conducted in-depth country research drafted complex submissions and assisted clients navigating complex immigration, visa and humanitarian matters.

Shay also holds a First-Class Honours degree in science, bringing a methodical, analytical approach to dissecting complex technical files and multi-jurisdictional disputes.

At Pacific Maritime Lawyers, Shay draws on her experience in contract administration, regulated industries, legal research, and cross-border studies to assist clients across the firm’s maritime, commercial, regulatory and dispute-resolution practice areas.
